What is the root chakra responsible for

How do you know if your root chakra is blocked?

Are you experiencing constipation, the inability to feel connected, anxiety? If you said yes to any of the above- your root chakra could be blocked.

I will begin with this- obviously, I always recommend consulting a physician about why you are experiencing any sort of illness. However, as a medium and master reiki practitioner it is very common for my clients to exhibit symptoms that can be treated with medicine but what I do is get to the root(no pun intended) of the problem. The deeper why behind your anxiety, constipation, unhappiness. So, with that disclaimer, let’s explore our Root Chakra!

The first of the seven major chakras is the red Root Chakra. Its Sanskrit name is Muladhara, and its mantra is “I exist.”  It is located at the tip of the spine. This chakra is not one of emotions but of physical needs. It is the chakra of security, stability, and basic needs such as food, shelter, love, and money. The Root Chakra is linked to the element of Earth. It helps keep us grounded and feeling safe. The base chakra is about feeling comfortable in our skin and our environment.

As Muladhara is the foundation for the other chakras, keeping it in balance is crucial. When the base chakra is unbalanced, you can experience feelings of anxiety, insecurity, and fear. You may experience nightmares and sleep loss. Physical ailments such as constipation, weight gain or loss, issues in the legs or feet, bladder ailments, and a weakened immunity can appear. When our survival is threatened, our fight or flight response kicks in. You may feel ungrounded and off-balanced. With all of this going on, it is difficult to have healthy relationships, to stand in your power, feel love, and feel connected to the Earth or to source. So in return, all of the chakras are at risk of becoming unbalanced.

A balanced Root Chakra leads to feelings of stability and balance, presence and focus, and belonging. To keep this chakra healthy, walk, garden, hike, spend time in nature. Eating red foods such as strawberries and apples and root vegetables like carrots and beets can help too. Do grounding meditations. Ladies, do your Kegel exercises. Crystals that help the base chakra include garnet, bloodstone, red jasper, black obsidian, black tourmaline, tiger eyes, and smokey quartz.

Live your life proudly, and remember the universe has your back. You are safe and secure.
