What is the difference between meditation and manifestation?

Are you being called to connect with your spirituality? Are you recognizing an urge to explore mediation? Are you curious about the difference between meditation and manifestation? Let me help you understand the polarity of these two dynamic tools.

“Meditation is a practice of consciously choosing to centre yourself, to quiet your mind and find inner peace. … You don’t need to meditate to manifest. Manifestation is the continuous process of creation. We are constantly manifesting everything in our lives at every moment.”

Let us begin with meditation, I trust you are all sitting in the Lotus position – not!

This is one of the myths connected to meditation and the practice of choosing to centre yourself, to quiet your mind and find inner peace.

We can meditate when washing dishes, on our favourite country/beach walk we can even practice it in the bath or sitting on the loo, for all we have to do is quieten our mind, allowing thoughts to flow!

The easiest form of meditation is focusing upon the breath or a flickering flame of a candle.

To focus on your breath just take a nice deep breath in through the nose, to the count of 5, allow yourself to follow it as it crosses over your throat and fills your lungs, now let it continue down to the pit of your abdomen and hold there again to the count of 5.

Release the breath slowly by sighing it out of your mouth for the count of 7 or 9.

Repeat 3 times.

There are many guided meditations that one can follow this helps to take your focus of your thoughts and as with the breathing above allows you to refocus if the thoughts take you off track.

Meditation is all about focusing on something other than your thoughts and it doesn’t matter how much your mind chatters or how much time you can spare, we can all benefit from that time away from the mind and it that tranquil space!

Meditation is probably the greatest gift that we can give yourself no matter what our age, all we need to remember is we will have thoughts whilst meditating, we need to allow the thoughts we have to come and go, we do need a quiet area and be comfortable in that space.

We do not need to be anything other than yourself and we do not need a script just a few minutes to connect to our breath and presto as we practice we will expand and try other ways of meditating and quieting our mind allowing us to create more focused decisions.

One of those decisions may well be to manifest but you can most certainly manifest without meditation and you can meditate without having to manifest!

Manifestation is another name given to The Law of Attraction and whatever we focus our thoughts on whether positive or negative will manifest itself.

The first step of manifestation is to decide what it is you wish to manifest, maybe a vision board or affirmation can help with this.

Whilst faith is required for you to manifest it doesn’t have to be a spiritual or religious faith for the faith that in required is in yourself!

To manifest that which you desire you will need to

  • Be clear about what it is you require
  • Don’t be obsessive about the outcome
  • Ask for a sign

The sign can be anything from a feather/coin, a song or a phrase written or heard.

By not obsessing about the outcome, you aren’t trying to rush things and this is most important for it is the Universe that has control no yourself

When setting out your desire you do need to be clear on what it is and what time span, you’d like the outcome to manifest!  Even when there is no guarantee that your manifestation will appear at the time indicated for as already stated it is the Universe who will decide when the time is right.

There are 8 principles to aid us to manifest

1) Believe in yourself

Easier said than done, I know and yet the ease is there, should you choose to pursue it.
Actually, creative visualization is a great way to initiate this becoming.

2) Visualize yourself, believing in yourself

Acknowledge that you are capable, and through this acknowledgement, allow the desire for a better life to build within you.     

Create an action plan – it is of the utmost importance that you develop a plan of action.

Write it down. Read, and reread it. Own your plan, and embody its becoming.

Imagine different scenarios with the order placed, example: you’re on your way to pick it up. How you would feel if you didn’t manifest it and how you would feel if you do.

3) Take action

You need to focus only on the first step here. Complete it, and then move on to the next.

Slowly, after each step, everything will begin to unfold beautifully.

Here are 5 things you can start in your daily routine, to help initiate action in the direction of turning your imagination into something manifested.

  1.        Write down your goals, both long and short-term.
  2.         Practice breathing and meditation.
  3.         Stay physically active, move your body.
  4.         Tell yourself, everyone you know, and even strangers, what it is that you intend to accomplish.                                                                      
  5.         Keep a gratitude journal, and write in it daily.

Use these points to gain momentum, by focusing on the next step that’s required to be taken

4) Focus on the positive

It is imperative that you focus upon positive vibes for worry, fear, anxiety, doubt, or resistance in the form of limiting beliefs, pollute and dilute your vibration.

Acknowledge these negative vibes for what they are, but choose to push yourself into a direction of positive thinking.

Imagine yourself as capable and powerful, with a future that is in direct alignment with your desires. The mind cannot tell the difference between imagined and real situations.

Fill every cell with love, happiness, joy, peace, and let that light, bright energy radiate outward to attract what you want!

The more you amplify positive emotions, the higher and more powerful your manifestation will be!

5) Visualize

If you water your visualization with love, enthusiasm, unwavering belief, and lots of happiness, absorbing your vision, immerse yourself within it, and begin to truly feel the coinciding emotions. Be the person you wish to become and how you will feel in the situation you have ordered.

6) Stay humble and grateful

Harness the power of gratitude, and remind yourself of the blessing you have on a daily basis.

Thank yourself for all the hard work you’ve put in, while simultaneously thanking the universe for honouring this work and providing you with results.

Thank yourself for initiating the process, and find gratitude in every success and setback along the way. But do not allow your new-found success to go to your head.

Always acknowledge who you once were and where you came from.

Do what you can to help others realize as you have.

Be grateful for the opportunities you have and send gratitude forward into the future for that which you are about to receive.

Whilst you will no doubt begin to feel proud of what is happening remember to keep your ego at bay and to remain humble.

7) Upgrade your beliefs       

Many people also have a bottleneck of positive energy when it comes to money – usually rooted in beliefs of scarcity and unworthiness.

Money is nothing but a number and a means of exchange, do you believe in the scarcity of the things you would purchase with that money?

Do you believe that you are not worthy of having food, shelter, or nice things?

If so, it’s time to have a chat – a long, deep chat – with yourself.

Find out where these beliefs came from. Then, see if you can challenge the authority of them

8) Become a conscious creator

You are already a pro at manifesting although for the most part unconsciously, created a default existence based on your beliefs. There’s no reason why you can’t create an awesome life, using the proper techniques. All you need to do is take conscious control of the manifestation process instead of defaulting according to your old beliefs.
Remember to take action on the potential, to stay humble and to focus on gratitude for all the opportunities that unfold.

Create new beliefs, guide your thoughts, emotions and visualization; allow the delight of your imagination to become reality to be felt. Raise your vibration by being happy and loving, and watch your dreams come true.
