Brussel sprouts have made a comeback and are an effortless side dish for quick family dinners.

Brussels Sprouts belong to the Brassicaceae family, close relatives of kale, cabbage, cauliflower, and mustard greens, thus offering similar taste and a wide range of health benefits, which makes them a great addition to your diet. Mainly cut, cleaned, and cooked to be served as either a side dish or a main course, these mini looking cabbages provide everything from taste to power-packed nutrients.

Health Benefits of Brussels Sprouts

Brussels Sprouts are known to be packed with several essential, power-packed nutrients that help the body’s various organs function properly. This superfood contains a high amount of kaempferol, a powerful antioxidant that prevents cancer cells’ growth, reduces inflammation, and promotes better heart health. Furthermore, they are rich in fiber, omega 3 fatty acids, and Vitamin C & K, which together support digestive health, reduce the risk of diabetes, stabilizes blood pressure, and promote immune health. 

How To Prepare Brussels Sprouts

Most of you probably do not like Brussels Sprouts. But that is only because you haven’t had their best recipes yet, or you need to practice the skill of preparing them right. Unlike most vegetables, no boiling for Brussels Sprouts. They should be roasted or steamed with seasoning to enjoy those crispy looking, delicious green mini cabbages.  Follow the steps below to prepare roasted Brussels Sprouts for your next meal.

  • Preheat the oven and trim the hanging or yellow yellows off the veggie. 
  • Add oil and seasoning to your oven tray and add Brussels Sprouts to it. 
  • Roast for at least 30-35 minutes to get golden and crispy sprouts ready to munch on. 
  • You can add roasted nuts and oats, turkey bacon, or breadcrumbs to it to add more taste and texture.
