Soul families, soul mates and twin flames

Are you seeking a soulmate?

The quest for a soulmate, verbiage I hear a lot in my field. Soulmate, twin flame, we seem to be on an earthly quest to find our other half that completes us. However, have you considered that once you have done the deep emotional, spiritual work that the right one will come?

As a psychic, the questions I get asked the most revolve around finding soulmates and twin flames. As a culture, we are fed ideas of how we are to be searching for our one true soulmate or twin flame, some one great love out there just waiting to be found. There is the notion that we are somehow incomplete until we find such a person.

Let’s take a look at these different terms. Soulmates and twin flames are often used interchangeably, but they are truly two different concepts. And we can’t talk about either of these without first discussing soul families and soul groups. In all honesty, there are as many different meanings for these terms as there are people writing about them. So here is my understanding of them.

Your soul group includes your Earthly family, friends, neighbors, bosses, coworkers, the people you like, and those you don’t, essentially everyone in your life. We are in each other’s lives to help promote one another’s spiritual growth. All of us have agreed to play one role or another in each other’s lives to learn one kind of lesson or another. Some of these members are in your life for a brief moment and others for your lifetime. Some you have a close relationship with and others are mere acquaintances. The members of a soul group travel from lifetime to lifetime but don’t always reincarnate at the same time.

The soul family is a smaller inner circle of souls that is often made up of close family and friends.  These souls support and love one another as they go through life. These are the people that you can call up in a moment of need, and they will drop everything, no matter the time, day or night, to help you. They always have your back, but at the same time, they won’t hesitate to call you out on your bullshit. You have laughed, cried, and argued together. There may be times of separation, but you always find your way back together.

A soul mate is often referred to as a romantic partner, the one person who “completes” us. It is true that someone who is a soulmate can make for a great romantic partner. However, the term is much bigger than that. It encompasses any member of our soul family. This includes our closest friends, siblings, children and parents. The people in your life that you have a strong connection with. You know, those people that you are excited to see on your caller id. The ones you can stay up all night talking to. They uplift you. Support you. They play a major role in your overall spiritual development.

Then there are twin flames. They are the yin to your yang as the two of you are completely balanced male and female energies. Oftentimes, twin flames don’t reincarnate on the Earth realm at the same time. But when they do, the relationship with this person is often fiery, hence, the name. It is an intense and often tumultuous relationship. You love them and hate them (sometimes at the same time). They come into your life to challenge you and help you grow exponentially by triggering you to do your innermost work. They are your mirror-the good, the bad, and the ugly. When they are in your life, you can’t hide from your shadows. Anything that is out of balance or unhealed will rise to the surface. At the same time, your light shines brighter. The best of your best comes out for all to see. They are the ones that accelerate your soul transformation.

With so many familiar souls around you, stop looking for the one who makes you complete. Instead, keep working on you, and trust that the right souls will come into your life when you need them. You are complete and whole just by being you.
