Feeling disconnected lately? How the Crown Chakra works

What is universal energy, and can we tap into this through our Chakras?

The crown chakra is associated with the gateway energy to the universe. When our crown chakra is balanced and open, we have the ability to recognize our higher consciousness and ability to be who we are truly meant to be.

The Crown Chakra is the seventh chakra of the major chakras. The colors violet or white are associated with this chakra. I prefer visualizing it as white to make it distinctly different from the Third Eye Chakra, either purple or indigo. The thousand petal lotus flower often represents the crown chakra. Its Sanskrit name is Sahasrara and is located just above the top of your head. It is associated with the pituitary gland, pineal gland, and hypothalamus. The pituitary gland and the hypothalamus are connected to the endocrine system, so this chakra is associated with the brain and the nervous system. It represents union, bliss, and the knowledge that we are all one.

The crown chakra is often referred to as a doorway to access the energy of the universe. It is the part of our consciousness connected to the universe and our cosmic consciousness; in other words, the “I am that I am” consciousness. The seventh chakra represents our spiritual connections, the center of our spiritual purpose, universal oneness, and our connection to source. When this chakra is balanced, we have access to pure awareness and enlightenment. We connect with our spiritual self and self-realization, in short, our higher selves, and are shown our highest potential. This chakra enables us to transcend the limitations of space, time, and our physical bodies.

With the Crown Chakra being associated with the brain and nervous system, an imbalance of the chakras can manifest as physical symptoms including but are not limited to headaches and migraines, memory loss, nerve pain, insomnia, isolation, and depression. There is often a lack of connection with other people and a lack of direction. Those with an overactive crown chakra often live from their heads and lack connection to their bodies.

There are many ways to bring balance to the Crown Chakra. Daily meditation is going to bring in more balance the fastest. Visualizing a bright white or purple light coming into the top of the head or opening a thousand petal lotus flowers on the top of the head helps bring connection to source and your higher self. Amethyst, clear quartz, diamonds, and other white or purple stones are great crystals to help open and unblock the 7th chakra, and Frankincense, Holy Basil, and White Sage are useful as well. All of these can be worn or utilized during meditation. Committing to a spiritual path can help develop this chakra and communicate with the source, nature, and the universe. Understanding that we are all connected, we are all one, and there is no separation is the ultimate expression of a well-balanced Crown Chakra. I am that, I am
